The giant Johan Castberg FPSO is 300m long, 55m wide and 120m high and weighing 88,000 tons.
The FPSO is the biggest Equinor has ever built and it is now on it’s way from the Aker Solutions Stord Shipyard to the field in the Barents Sea.
According to Equinor, the Johan Castberg FPSO is designed for a daily production of almost 220,000 barrels. The oil will be produced from 30 wells distributed across 10 subsea templates and two satellite structures, Equinor informs.
The oil field is located more than 200 km north of the Norwegian mainland.
The field will create a ripple effect and provide energy and jobs for 30 years to come and 82% of the fields revenue will go to the Norwegian state.
StS Resources & Technology have supplied Aker Solutions with over 100 personnel consisting of Riggers and Rope Access Technicians since the arrival at the Stord Shipyard in early 2022.
